Writer-director Kevin Smith's fifth and final installment of his New Jersey Chronicles (which began in 1994 with the breakout, low-budget comedy CLERKS) is a chance for scene-stealing, foulmouthed stoner Jay (Jason Mewes) and his taciturn sidekick/"hetero life mate" Silent Bob (Smith) to carry their own movie. I know that this was not his best movie as far as writting & direction, however it's a favorite among my group of friends. There are several lines that we quote frequently from this one. Plus a small role played by Will Ferrell.
"I keep a chick on the side so that I'm not all-the-way gay, but my gay tubby husband here, LOVES the cock!"

"Why do they call you cock Knocker?"

Chris Rock cracks me up as the director at the end.

I liked it, but found it too tongue in cheek and focused TOO much on Jay and Silent Bob who were supposed to be background colourful characters, but grew in Amazing leaps in bounds to become forefront stars.

I did like the movie within a movie approach and like the cameos of people playing themselves and being extremely self-depreciating (especially Ben Affleck).

And, of course, there was Shannon Elizabeth.

Balls balls balls balls and bullshit.
How annoying is this movie?
"Look, here's my two recurring characters, done to death, and we're gonna see how many of my boyhood idols we can get in this film...look! It's Mark Hamill! Now that I'm a success, I can get funded to film absolute crap and meet Carrie Fisher to boot!"
Not that I'm bitter.

What is WITH you people and your immediate dismissal of movies?! It's prejudism in its PUREST form!

WATCH the movie, then formulate an opinion!

Unless, of course, it's a Pauly Shore movie, then feel free to pre-judge all you want!

Actually, I just heard last night that Pauly Shore has an sit-com starting on FOX (obviously) in the fall.

Reason Mr. Shore came to mind is Kerri and I watched "Dodgeball" last night and he had a preview clip for "Pauly Shore is Dead" (to which I loudly said, "FINALLY!"). It was SO annoying, even in a 30 second clip, that I considered creating my own "Dances With Wolves" list.

But I decided against it...Who knows? maybe "Pauly Shore is Dead" will be the sleeper hit of the season? Only TIME will tell...
