Since I was trapped on rainy days in a cottage in the middle of Namur, Quebec, it was either play parcheesi or watch Swiss Family Robinson.
Naturally, I chose TV (my friend and confidant). This movie was typical Disney live-action Utopic living...I mean, if I could ship-wreck myself and build the MANSION they built, hell, I'd pack up and sail off tomorrow!
I mean, nothing BAD happens to this family save a threat from HIGHLY stereotypical pirates and the odd leopard or two...
Made for kitschy fun and good memories, though.
P.S. I recently "visited" their tree-house at Disneyworld and wasn't as impressed as I was in my memories (hell, is ANYONE impressed with real versions of their memories?). Salt to the wound was the fact my daughter threw a MAJOR tantrum at the ABSOLUTE HIGHEST point in the tree house. Always fun climbing down rope ladders and pullies with a HOWLING toddler in your arms....SIGH!
oh my oh my...... memories of watching this movie in my nanny's & pappy's bedroom. I loved this movie. final.
I vaguely remember watching this on 'The Wonderful World of Disney' on a sunday night back in the 70's. I think I was ticked off because they showed this instead of 'Sport Goofy' or 'Herbie the Love Bug'....
...didn't care for it that much.
Just realized I never rated this one. MItch..you crazy babuy! I loved this movie as a kid. Mikey, I too visited the tree house in Disney a few years back when Anat & I went...I too found it rather crappy.
They should have had more monkey butlers.
I stand by my review! YAWN!
The only movie I have seen my OLDEST cover her eye's, ya she complained...still they watched it like 10 time's.
