Okay, I had to reluctantly watch this in a film studies course, and it was quite good! The only thing that I really didn't care for (this is gonna sound ridiculous) was the singing and dancing! I know, I know, it's a musical, but beyond the song and dance, there is actually a really good story about the introduction of sound to film. So story-wise, this holds strong.
