This still hold as the movie I've seen most times in theatres (7 1/2 times). The 1/2 has because i walked out of Lightening Jack (Paul Hogan & Cuban Gooding Jr.) and snuck in for the second half of Ace ventura. When this came out I fell in love with Jim Carrey and he was my favorite comedien/actor at the time. He since got really old, really fast and now I just don't find him funny anymore. If I see the movie now, I still think it's funny, and definately has it's moments but it just doesn't hold up.

I never saw the big deal. I laughed maybe three times, and thought Darrell was insane for seeing it in the theaters 13 times. Jim Carrey was always funnier when doing stand-up.

Jim Carrey is one of those comedians who, when he's on, he's great. But when he's not (or when you're NOT in the mood for him) it's like that annoying drunk asshole of a friend that you'd wish would just PASS OUT already!

I think what sunk it for me was when he talked out of his bum. Not that I was offended by this in any way, it was just dumb.

Ouch, a movie that makes a PLONT talk condescendingly like a stuck-up POT snoot.

Papa mIkey!

Actually, the bum-talking scene was one of the funny moments for me! Oh well.

So, Papamikey, Jim Carrey is the Gabe of the comedy scene?

I liked this movie. I'll agree that Carrey's schtick got old fast, and repeated viewings don't hold up, but still, I've rented it a number of times, so I suppose it's a better than average comedy.

What's your rating of this movie?
