Took the kids to see this on the weekend.

We all loved it - animation, mood, style, VERY subtle subversive satire...all spot on. Borrowed heavily from 70s/80s corny b-horror (think the POLAR opposite of what Expendibles is trying to do) and managed to capture the "feel" the films in a fully CGI animated movie.

I said to the missus it was like a "training" film for an intro to horror for kids. Along the lines of Coraline but more for laughs instead of creepiness.

It maaayyybe lagged a bit in the middle but the ending was simply spectacular - how it handled the Witch was touching.

Most of the slack-jaws in the megaplex I saw it in didn't "get it" which is why I don't see this movie doing well (alot like Coraline didn't do well) until it comes out on video.

And if you don't see it as a childish counter-attack to my childish stance on Expendibles....meh, so be it.
