Taking PapaMikeys advice, I've been boning up on my cartoon watching. This was a fantastic movie and was one of my favorites that year. I remember thinking that it should get an Oscar nod at the time. Billy Crystal is so funny.......when he's not busy making garbage like 'Giant'.
That's 'MY Giant'.
Anyways, this should've beaten 'Shrek' for the Oscar. I think the academy wanted to give the award to someone besides Pixar for once.
Greatr movie for kids and adults. I thought this was even better than Finding Nemo, which I loved!
Lesse, my preferences for Pixar's run as follows:
The Incredibles > Bug's Life > Finding Nemo > Toy Story 2 > Monster's Inc. > Toy Story
Not to say that Monster's Inc. wasn't FABULOUS but RELATIVE to other Pixar's it wasn't the CREAM of the crop...still have NO problem giving it 4 stars because RELATIVE to other family film's out on the market (Rugrats? Caillou?) this is hand's down top shelf.
P.S. Kerri asked me the other day what roles John Ratzenberger plays in all the Pixar movies as he's been in each one...lesse:
Toy Story: Piggy Bank
Bug's Life: P.T. Flea
Finding Nemo: School of Mackerel
Monster's Inc.: Yeti/Abomnible Snowman
The Incredibles: The Underminer
It's cool that they keep these traditions alive...
This to was not my favorite, finding nemo takes the cake, but was very good still good. like papa mikey have seen it a million times. still gives me a chuckle,. I am now starting to show miss maggie all these movies. trying to get her away from the Wiggles. so far toy story has been the best for her.
Just a side note to parents (Mikey, Kim, Darrell-to-be)....check out a Canadian kids' show called Nanalan'. It is easily the most adorable and funny kids' show out there right now. Done with muppets a la Sesame Street, but very detailed and just top-notch fun. CBC weekdays, 10:30.
I smile and chuckle throughout.
I have seen nanlan. sorry my kids dont like it. parents ever seen POKO??? mya loves it, she laughs so hard she almost cry's. its the dog whats his name???
the dogs name is linus??? or some L name...
Could it be that I'm behind the eight ball with kids shows these days...
But then again, I'm relegated to some evil "George Shrinks" nightmare land that plays OVER and OVER and OVER again...
I briefly get to surface with doses of Yu-Gi-Oh and Mega-Man but those are few and far between.
If I seek refuge in the basement, Millie is running a PARALLEL HELL of "Max and Ruby"
Hic. Kill me.
Hic. Kill me.
I've seen Nanalan. It is very well done and I can see how children & Mitch would love it.
POKO is really good, but on in the morning during weekdays( from my mat leave days). the new thing is THE BACKYARDIGANS!!!. I Want to know WERE are max & rubys parents.
You SEE?! Max and Ruby are evil!
Max's parents left him in the charge of his scatter-brained, screech-voice harpy of a sister and he does his best to challenge her authority with mischeivious behaviour and scathing one-line zingers:
Ugh, they also watch "The Backyardigans"...where do these "overly-pure" shows come from and WHAT do they teach our kids about the REAL world? If they were to follow thses examples verbatim, they will have their lunch money stolen and pushed head first into the snow...
What is the pink one in THE Backyardigans???? mya & i cant figure it out. I like them, cool tunes. sigh right now the craze @ my house is Willy wonka & the Choclat factory. The kid in that need to go!!!!!!!!
Mikey, check out Nanalan!
No, tonight Aidan has Batman Beyond : Return of the Joker and Emilia has Bambi
Daddy, meanwhile, got caught by Mommy trying to sneak "Doom III" for the X-Box into the house. I mean, from the disapproving looks and comments I got, I think I would have been safer bringing Angelina Jolie into the house.
I even got comments from AIDAN: "That video game's TOO scary Daddy! M for Mature! You're not Mature, Daddy!"
Oh, le mot just.
