First of all, love the tagline:
"Slaughter will blow your mind... clean out of your head!"
As for the film, well, it is what it is, i.e. a second rate Shaft knock-off capitalizing on the Blaxploitation craze of the 70's. It's cornball as all hell of course, terribly acted (I mean, Jim Brown, come on), terribly scripted, terribly edited, REALLY terribly directed, but fun in its own low-rent way.
A lot of unintentional laughs, as Brown is the most trigger-happy guy I've seen in some time. He answers doors by firing rounds into them, and shoots at just about everyone in the film - asking questions later. It's like, "Hey Slaughter, what's happ..."*BLAM*BLAM*BLAM*
Also, the henchmen all slightly resembled Bruno Kirby for some reason, and the main baddie is played by a young and seemingly perpetually drunk Rip Torn. Lots of stock action sequences (cars plowing into boxes and crates in narrow alleys - and said boxes exploding for some reason), and a funny shoot-out sequence with lots of red-shirts (or Kirbys) on rooftops getting shot and yelling as they fall off (á la C64's Impossible Mission).
And there's even some boobage, so word up on that.
yes a fun romp indeed, but really for the wrong reasons. The "Kirbie Gang" was pretty fun. The racism is awful, but still made me laugh.
2 white guys talking about Slaughter....
"You know what they say about all "those types"
"They all have rhythm
Where the white women at?
