One word for this one, folks: DUMB.
Dumb dumb dumb DUMB!
Ever notice when you say/write a word enough times, it begins to sound/look bizarre? DUM-B
Ironic that the movie was about suspending your disbelief in the "magic of life" yet I couldn't see past how dippy Dustin Hoffman was acting. Not that Natalie Portman was so UTTERLY mis-cast in the role.
It was all too "cutesy-poo" and if I want a better treatment on the purity of spirit and the wholesomeness of life, I'll re-watch Babe or Elf.
To borrow from a Rotten Tomato reviewer:
"Hoffman is unbelievably annoying as the lisping Willy Wonka wannabe, while Portman looks uninterested. "
But, interestingly enough...NOT ETB! I give it 1 star for TRYING. It did have some production value and was TRYING to be a one-up children's movie from trash like Underdog and the MVP series...so it shouldn't share their fate.
Who says I don't have a heart??!
