A rougher version of George Roy Hill's pet theme of men as overaged adolescents, SLAP SHOT stars Paul Newman as Reggie Dunlop, the venerable player-coach of the Charlestown Chiefs, a fifth-rate minor league hockey team. When their blue-collar town falls prey to Rust Belt ills of the 1970s, attendance drops, and the greedy owner starts looking for a buyer, anxious to cash out. Mood: It's fucking embarrassing!
Hands down my favorite sports movie (fuck you Field Of Dreams!). The Hanson Bros. have become Canadian icons and have carved a decent career for themselves thanks to this film.
"I'm listening to the fucking song!"
All the French players crack me up.
"I ask him who own da Chiefs."
"What'd he say?"
"He go pee-pee." "No, I Ok."
The whole opening scene with Denis the goalie explaining the penalties to the interviewer.
"You go to the box and you feel shame. Then you go free!"
"H-Ogie H-Oglethorpe!"

Best sports movie ever. I saw this 100 times growing up.
French Goalie - "I hate it hear! Make me sick, my Halergies puke all the time..BLAH BLAH Like that, puke!"
Newman - "You're a goalie, you're supposed to be like that"

This was a pretty funny movie, but not 4-stars quality! You hockey nerds!

I went to the Annual Toronto Sports convention yesterday. Every year they have sports celebs there to sign autographs. This year they had Beliveau, Steve Shutt, Dave Keon, Wendel Clark, Doug Gilmour..etc etc etc. Anyways, when I was there yesterday they had Ogie Ogilthorpe from the movie.

Enough with your gayromping gifs! Insert them in an ongoing thread, fine, but geez, why am I wasting my time looking at "slap shot" and other gayromping films only to look at something completely gayromping itself!

Because, like us, you crave nothingness, and have no life. It's quite simple, really.
Jefferygn wrote on March 9, 2006, 3:37 pm
can't argue with that!

I can!

My argument is:

The Holy Roman was neither Holy, nor Roman, nor an Empire...
