So here goes my adventure story of the weekend. Above synopsis sets it up for you. Basically i bit into a pancake and found a "lucky prize".....a piece of glass about the size of a dime/penny. I shit you not!!
the glass broke into several smaller pieces when I bit it. I had a few minor cuts/scrathes on my gums, nothing too serious. A little blood, and several minutes of sorting through the food in my mouth and spitting out smaller shards of glass.
Funny thing is that the manager took for ever to come talk to us, and when he did he seemed very "evs" about the whole thing, as if this happens from time to time.
They didn't even offer to pay for our meal, we kinda just got up and left after all this.
My biggest worry is that my next move would have been to cut a few pieces to give to my 2 year old daughter. imagine what COULD have happened? OY!
It's really upsetting to think about it.
Now I know this isn't a movie review, but I think it's important to let people know what happened, I'd hate to hear of this hapening to one of you, or worse, one of your kids.
I actually wrote an e-mail to Golden griddle last night and have already recieved a call from the president of the company. so far we've been playing phone tag, but I'm very curious to see how they handle this type of situation.
On a side bar, even after the glass, the blood etc etc, my dad sits there and keeps eating away a-la Bill Murray in Caddyshack "it's no big deal".
PS. On the drive home, we pulled the car over so I could yak..yum! Also, this may sound stupid, but I have a feeling that I won't be able to eat pancakes for quite a while now. I had a hard time eating my Tim's muffin this morning without thinking about out.
I think you can all guess what my rating will be at this point
I've eaten at the Griddle twice, and it was alright for what it was, but there are better joints out there.
Speaking from a restaurant standpoint - I know that sometimes this stuff happens (though it's usually just a hair.....once someone found a staple!) and the protocol is to offer to remake the meal for free, and offer for a freebie the next time around.
Sometimes a staple or a rubber band can find it's way into the food via the bulk inventory that comes in - still, it's inexcusable.
But MAN, the stories I could tell you.
Folks, seriously, just eat at home.
Hairs don't even bother me. I have many times slowly pulled a loooong hair out of my mouth while chewing my food at a restaurant and I just say *meh* and keep on going. but GLASS!! COOOOME OOON!!
"Glass, GLASS! Who gives a shit about glass?!!" - John McClean
That's it! No soup for you!
