Saw this again last night, and laughed again. This is truly one of the oddest concepts for a comedy but it works very well.
The story is very sweet and you can't help but like these guys. The actors did an excellent job protraying their individuality despite being so attached.
Good chick flick (although a little light on the romance).
PS: Eva Mendes is one of the hottest babes around!
I could swear we posted this already
That's what I thought...........
Hmmm.......... Is there a gremlin in the code?
It wasn't posted, I'm sure.
Wow, impressive. You figure this is gonna be a one-joke movie (it sorta is) and the Farrellys are gonna milk the conjoined twins humour for all its worth (they sorta do), but dammit, it works when it shouldn't. Similar in style to 'The Ringer' (Johnny Knoxville pretending to be retarded in order to fix the Special Olympics), this could've fallen on the wrong side of tasteless, but is ultimately saved due to the total likeability of Kinnear and MATT DAAAAAMON!, their earnestness in not overdoing it, their genuine affection for each other, and some smart writing. I laughed more often than not.
Also BIG props to Cher, who in a pretty sizeable role playing herself, shows she must have a great sense of humour to mock herself and her public persona so much, and it is done quite consistently here. Meryl Streep was also funny in a bit part playing herself. I agree with Derek too - Eva Mendes is severely sexy (and also a funny scene-stealer here).
I am not a fan of the Farrellys, 'Kingpin' being the only film of theirs I found funny ('Dumb & Dumber' had its moments), but this outing shows they have the brains to be smart & bizarre without all the cum-in-the-hair jokes.
On a side note, Cher is still quite hot, despite all the obvious plastic surgery.
