Not as bad as some would have you believe, but still the least appealing of the series. It's visually impressive - I liked the style and darkness, the use of Brad Dourif (always effectively creepy and evil), the new and improved Ripley, Ryder as the android, and the sequence with all the Ripley clones.
But in the end, it's all presentation and no taste, resulting in a standard chase movie. The aliens aren't scary anymore.
There's talk of Alien 5 - Weaver wants to do it, honestly.
Here's Dourif teasing an alien from behind the glass....
....and a toy for the kids.
I actually liked this one. Remember seeing it in theatres and several times since. Better than #3, only from an action perspective. liked the underwater scenes. Some cool stuff all around here.
Mikey, wasn't this one of the first 'date' movies you and Kerri went to together, along with the 'gang'? Or was that 'Clear And Present Danger'?
Just rewatched this right after rewatching Alien 3.....again, I stand by my rating, but not that great a film. It really veers in the wrong direction towards the end though. I had TOTALLY forgotten about the human/alien hybrid that kills the queen and wants to mate with Ripley - what a terrible character design! It looks ridiculous and NOT scary. Just a big fleshy walking skull. Also, Ripley's line at the end, "Well, we did it! We saved the Earth!" was soooooo bad. I hope someone got fired for THAT blunder!
See? I was under the impression that the Aliens WOULD make it to Earth and the fight would continue there.
But it STILL happens on a space ship/station.
I actually don't remember much from this one, which is always a sign that it was forgettable...I remember the hybrid, I remember Winona Ryder as the cyborg, I remember the kick-ass Ripley Re-Booted, I remember the "baby" hybrid being sucked out the mini-hole (and feeling sorry for it...it didn't ask to be born a hideous evil murdering mutation....).
The gaps is where I lose the continuity...gotta re-watch. My bro has the ENTIRE box-set, so I'll borrow it.
Time to introduce the BOY to REAL horror movies....
Great father, eh?
Ooooh!!! Start with Jaws! START WITH JAWS!!!!
LAND SHARK!! LAND SHARK!!
I might start with the Shining...
Further proof that little girls are CREEPY AS HELL.
As for Resurrection, not that bad. Not great, though Brad Dourif was pretty cool as the creepy-ass mad scientist. And Sigourney kicking ass in tight leather, yum.
Awesome designs for sets and costumes.
