Slither is an edgy blend of heart-stopping terror, wry humor and surprising humanity from genre-bending screenwriter James Gunn, whose Dawn of the Dead became one of 2004's most surprising hits.

The sleepy town of Wheelsy could be any small town in America ? somewhat quaint and gentle, peopled with friendly folks who mind their own business. But just beneath the surface charm, something unnamed and evil has arrived?and is growing. No one seems to notice as telephone poles become clogged... [Get complete synopsis]

It's getting good revvvviiiiieewwws....

Seems the only one who wasn't keen on it was Ebert....
Papamikey wrote on March 31, 2006, 2:28 pm
...and even he gives it a back-handed complement!

Funny, I've only been seeing so-so reviews, but whaddaya want? It's about slugs and zombies!
Will stave off reading the Ebert review until after seeing it tonight.

I started reading Ebert's review earlier today and stopped myself. Mitch & I are off to see this tonight, don't want to spoil anything. From the few paragraphs I did read, he gave it 2 stars, but didn't seem to hate it. The posters on his site gave it an average of 4 stars. WOW!

Mitch & I will review before we go shloofy tonght

Wow, awesome! TOTALLY PLONT, but in a good way - Mike go see this, honestly. For me it was up there with Tremors and the good B-Movie stuff. There's slugs, zombies, aliens, TONS of gore/grossness/slime, and very good FX, some CGI, some old school make-up n' stuff, all seamless, and some geuine scares too. Rips off lots of B-movie fare but maintains an originality of its own. There's also some humour, and a nice ensemble of characters (the guy who played the scuzzball in 'Payback' opposite Mel Gibson was the mayor here and quite funny - not in an annoying way.)
Anyways, there's some gruesome stuff for sure, but I don't wanna give away too much. I'd definitely see it again. To be compared with 'Slugs', which we just finished watching, but on a different scale altogether.....

Review: "A great time was had by all"

Excellent alien, zombie killer bugs flick. Very well done on the f/x side. good cast / characers. The makeup (especially for the Rooker character was VERY well done - Oscar worthy).
Story was good, original in it's own way and very icky & graphic.
I too would definately watch again.

To paraphrase Pink Floyd: "Wish I Was There"

If you guys are keen to RE-see it if and when we come to T.O., I'm SO there....if I don't go see it before then!

Papa Mikey!

And you will never listen to Air Supply the same way again....

FIIIINNNNAAAALLLY saw this on the weekend (at 1:00AM, no less!!! GREAT time to watch a B-movie creature-feature).

While I thought it was GREAT, it suffered from the usuall "Phantom Menace"esque build up and hightened expectations. I loved all the little side nods to other B-Movie horror, you can tell the writers and director are fans. I love Nathan Fillion, he's got that sidelong glance at the camera smirk down pat.

And Elizabeth Banks is VERY VERY VVVVERRRRY easy on the eyes.

Sensing a but?

Mmmm, no but's, was a good movie. Would have RATHERED seen it way back when Mitch/Deril went to see it, all fresh and not knowing what to expect.

And, of course, it could've used MUCH more boobage.

Pops McClure

P.S. And the ending....oy vey! Opens up about 4 different plot lines for sequels!

P.P.S. Elizabeth Banks stars as Betty Brant in Spider Man....man, just had a retro-fanboy geekgasm (to quote the Blogsphere)
