One of the best shows on TV these days. I can't wait for it, and I'm sad when it's over each week. Tongiht should be good as it gets "ugly" at the auditions as the judges try to narrow down to the 16 finalists for the actual show.

While I'm sure I'll not be AS bitter and scathing as your average Jeff and/or Mitch's, I have to admit that American Idol is sort of "meh" for me and is kinda tawdry and trashy.

I mean, I WATCH it now and again but find it focuses TOO much on NON-talent (and anti-talent) and sometimes is downright mean and grotesque. Kind of a nice talent show meeting a side-show freak stage. Though I can understand this may appeal to some people.

I liked the first season and felt that Kelly Clarkson can indeed really sing but as my pops always said, "for every Kelly Clarkson, there are 10,000 OTHER Kelly Clarkson's waiting to be discovered" and they waste valuable air-time giving false hope to clearly troubled and dillusional freaks thinking they're the next William Hung. I think that's the point where I began to lose interest in the show (or maybe it was when the best gig Reuben Studdard could land was singing the closing credits to Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed), when William Hung extended his 15 seconds of fame into what seemed an UN-ENDING segment on Entertainment Tonight...

In essence, he's making Christmas Albums and true talent stagnates undetected making burgers in the back room of a White Castle in Butt-fu*k, Iowa.

Mmmmm...Butt-fu*k burgers....

Papa Mikey!

That was quite the quote from your Pops. Did he really say all that?

In reply, Yes the first few weeks show all the non-talent and freak show people, but as the process continues throught the season (like this week), they really do get rid of the dreck and the more talented / entertaining singers go to the final 16. I like that America gets to ultimately decide the winner (even though they are usually ignorant). Every year I have agreed with their selections accept for last year. Constantine should have won...even Bo was pretty good.
